Boulder Public Library
The Boulder Public Library system is fantastic and a real asset to life in Boulder. If you haven’t been lately, treat yourself to a wonderful visit to a great place to relax and take in the city. The main branch is conveniently located in downtown, literally right off the Boulder Bike Path and Boulder Creek. Soon you’ll be able to see adventurous folks tubing the creek. The City lot offers up to three hours of free parking for library patrons.
And just across the street is Boulder home grown natural grocer Alfalfa’s – so you can get your shopping in as well.
I’m also going to give a shout out to a great local business, On Broadway, which is just a few blocks up Arapahoe and is owned by David, a great guy. Check it out!
Boulder Library New and Old
The library is in the process of entertaining suggestions for a makeover of the main space. It has been several years since the last round of improvements. Coming from a small town in Ohio, I’m impressed Boulder is already updating the library. By Ohio standards (where I grew up), it is a pretty awesome facility as is. And the children’s section feels never ending. Books, fun spaces for Moms and Dads and kids to share a special book and learn to read. There is also a wonderful fish tank as you enter the library, sure to capture the imagination of young readers.
The Boulder public library promotes local authors and artists. Frequent art openings, book readings and similar events are held at the library. There is complimentary notary public service available as well as plenty of internet friendly terminals. If you are in search of space to check your email, Google the latest news or just Facebook, the library is a welcoming and quiet space.
Boulder Public Library Is More Than Just Books
The library offers books and periodicals, ebooks, audio tapes, DVDs and CDs. If you are looking for media, this is the place. There is a coffee shop located on the pedestrian bridge that crosses Boulder Creek. Outside, you’ll find plenty of green spaces to relax. Inside, there is a grand sweeping staircase as well as a popular pool to toss a penny and make a wish. I wish for whirled peas.
Elevator access for disabled partons, late night book drop, free parking and a fantastic staff round out the library. Check out a book today and give me your reading suggestions.
