Boulder Whittier established 1859

Walking down the street – any street mind you – of the Boulder Whittier neighborhood brings thoughts of charm, yesteryear, peace, quaint, quintessential and lovely Boulder to mind. This is one of the city’s most cherished locations.

In 1978 Robin Williams landed his egg-shaped spaceship on Folsom Field and sprang into the hearts of Americans. His beloved goofy character, Mork, lived with Mindy at 1619 Pine Street, in the heart of Whittier. To this day, it’s a beloved home to drive by and think Nanu Nanu.

Here you’ll find a charming Bed & Breakfast (and plenty of Air BnB options), elementary school children still walk to, a beloved public swimming pool complex and all that Pearl Street and the Pearl Street Mall have to offer.

Mork and Mindy resided at 1619 Pine Street starting in 1978. The house is still a popular Boulder Colorado sight!

Boulder Neighborhood Location

Roughly bounded by Canyon Boulevard to the south, Bluff Street to the north, Broadway to the west and 26th Street to the east. The Pearl Street Mall is located within this community.

Being one of the earliest neighborhoods settled, you’ll discover tree lined streets today. Big trees too. Eclectic mix of housing. Condominiums to single family homes. Families and students coexisting side by side.

Community is from another century, so you’ll discover touches like sand stone side walks in places. Very mature trees lining the streets. Victorian homes from the turn of the century, bungalows alongside contemporary remodels. Portions of the community feature ally access.

The Boulder theater is a great example of everything old is new again. When this space opened, it was an instant international draw. Walk to the Pearl Street Mall or walk home after a great concert in the center of your neighborhood.

Can’t get enough live music? Be sure to check out eTown just down the block on Spruce Street. Another great spot for live music.

Boulder Whittier Real Estate For Sale

Over the last year there have been a whopping forty seven Whittier real estate sales. The majority of these have been for attached dwellings such as lofts, condos and town homes. A condo complex at 2201 Pearl accounts for fully ten of those real estate transactions.

By contrast, single family homes come up for sale much more infrequently.

In 2020 there were six homes sold in Whittier. Those homes had an average sold price of $1,212,000. Guess what? This year there are three active listings, but home prices have surged to an average of one point eight million. That’s $1,855,000 for your average Whittier home for sale. If these home prices really hold, that will be one giant leap of fifty percent in value on average.
