College Interns Rock; Hire A College Intern Today!
I have been employing college interns as a business strategy for several years now. And I can honestly say: College interns rock. Having students working for me, well, it is one of the most rewarding aspects of my career.
It is hands on. It is a learning experience for the student as well as myself.
Because each student has his or her own special talents, each internship is unique. Alec was incredibly project oriented. He created some long lasting marketing material. Sophia really understood social media. Her posts popped immediately.
College Interns Enter Real Estate Careers
For some, the internship is just another box to check off. The CU Boulder real estate certificate requires students have an internship as part of the program. For others, it is a stepping stone to a career. Scotty Rahe now works at Re/Max International and Hope Thompson just joined Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices!
These Three College Interns Rock
This morning I added a new review to my LinkedIn profile from Aidan Stout. He worked with me in the summer of 2018 as a college intern. He was actually the second of three students I have hired from my Alma Mater; Ohio Wesleyan University.
Aidan wrote a great review. Much more than the standard three sentences. I’m humbled and asking myself, “Did I really do all that?”
Meanwhile, I have a CU Boulder intern on staff this summer. Emerin is fantastic. He is churning out sharp marketing videos for me and putting in an additional ten hours a week with The Lister Sisters from our Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices office.
And finally, later this month Jordan H. will be closing on a new home. What a blessing to help her and husband Dustin purchase their first property together. They got a killer home mortgage interest rate of 3.8%. Holy cow! Jordan worked for me several years ago as a college intern. My recollection: she was the hardest working intern!
You Can Hire A College Intern Too
I’m a big fan of college interns. You should be too. Students are seeking an opportunity to get some real life experience. They are passionate and excited and full of energy. If nothing else, bringing on an intern gets me to the office a little earlier and working a little more. Sometimes, all it takes a little change to move the needle in a big way.
Bonus Beyond Rocking College Interns
You ever watch those ads back in the seventies – order now and get this bonus item!? Well, I’ve had some great additional bonuses associated with hiring college interns. First, I’ve had the opportunity to participate in real estate educational classes at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Great experience.
And best of all, I recently assisted a professor at CU purchase a home. A connection made from working with students. It really pays to hire a college intern!
