Artisan Spring Boulder Colorado
Boulder County, Colorado is home to Eldorado Natural Spring Water, a wonderful naturally occurring Spring that is eight thousand feet deep. Imagine that for a moment. The source of this Spring is more than one and a half miles under the surface the Earth. The water takes decades to slowly bubble up to the surface. Eldorado Springs then captures the water. Each night, as it bubbles to the surface, large stainless steel tanks are filled. And each morning, fresh Eldorado Springs water is transported to the bottling facility in Louisville.
Eldorado Springs History
The modern history of Eldorado Springs starts early in the nineteen hundreds. Settlers to Boulder, local Indian tribes and homesteaders would visit the Spring for water. As Boulder grew, Eldorado Springs had its ups and downs as a spot to get water. Yet, the canyon where the spring is located was much loved. It was even the site of the honeymoon of a young lieutenant Dwight D. Eisenhower and his new bride Mamie. About thirty years ago, three local businessmen came together to grow the Eldorado Natural Spring Water company.
Today, the company they formed ships water as far south as Pueblo and north to Fort Collins. It is locally available in grocery stores, restaurants and by delivery service. I had the good fortune to sit down with Stan Havlick, Regional Director. Stan’s knowledge of the spring runs deep and he shared a great deal of information in energetically telling me about Eldorado. In addition to drinking water, the Spring feeds a public swimming pool (additional fee); a great place to cool off after a hike.
There is a real difference between municipal water and spring water. Try two glasses of water, side by side at room temperature and you will quickly taste the difference. Eldorado runs the water through filters to remove any grit or sand, but there is no chemical process involved. All the naturally occurring minerals remain! It is all one hundred percent natural spring water. And it tastes great.
With nearly sixty employees, Eldorado Springs water is a big little company operating in Boulder-Louisville. They moved their offices to Louisville, where the water is also bottled, a few years ago. But this company is all about Boulder. Eldorado sponsors a 4 mile run – The Colorado Cure – to raise funds to battle cancer. In 2013, the run will celebrate its 35th consecutive year.
