Skiers Delight
That annual moment where we all lose an hour of sleep has arrived. And skiers could not be happier. Colorado and Boulder spring forward this Sunday, March 9th, 2014. And why would skiers delight? Extra time to stay on the slopes during one of Colorado’s best ski seasons in recent memory. I suppose outdoor enthusiasts, children playing after school and even folks looking to jog after work will all appreciate a little more sunshine in the afternoon.

Get Up Early
On the other hand, we all have to wake up an hour earlier this Sunday. Boo who.
Take Advantage of Daylight Savings Time
Whether you fall back or Boulder spring forward, this bi-annual event is a good time to knock out some household chores. BTW, my first suggestion on batteries? Here is a great reminder. A story today about a German Sheppard saving a man’s life.
Here are my recommendations:
- Change all the batteries in your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. I blogged on this in my safety tips way back when.
- Replace the filter in your furnace. Ideally, you are changing the filter every 30 days when you pay your mortgage, but if you can’t remember when you last did this…change your filter right now. Yes -I’m talking to you!
- De-clutter your closet. Now is a good time to reduce the clutter. Here is an idea: reverse all the hangers so they are pointed backwards (open side towards you). As you wear clothing, put the hangers back on the bar in the regular fashion. In a month’s time, revisit your close and see if there are items you are not wearing that might be suitable for retirement or giving away to a local charity.
- Make a honey-do list. I can recommend handymen, plumbers, electricians, painters. You name it, I know a great contact I can recommend. Spring is a good time to take care of the little issues around your house. It could be painting a room, adding shelving in the garage or tightening a lose faucet. Take care of little things before it becomes big.
- Have your tires checked on your car. Having your car serviced and tires checked once or a twice a year is a good idea. Properly inflated tires save on gas. With temps changing in Boulder, now is a good time to check the pressure.
Give me a call today if I can recommend anyone to you. Have a great weekend and don’t forget Boulder spring forward on Sunday by one hour!!
