The view of the mountains dominates life in Boulder,  Mountains make for an easy point of reference when getting directions.   In addition to great views, Boulder has a strong Open Space policy since the 1970’s, preserving the character of the community and providing beautiful vistas.  Open space is community owned land with very limited development.

As you enter Boulder along Highway 36, there is a fantastic overlook/scenic view ideal for Boulder visitors. First time to Boulder? Be sure to check it out.  There is plenty of parking and a visitors kiosk filled with helpful information about Boulder including maps and handout cards.  And the view is fantastic.  It might be those majestic peaceful mountains that in 2011 had a Gallup-Healthways study saying Boulder is the happiest and healthiest place to live.  Kids will love seeing all the prairie dogs and rabbits that live near the view.
