Are you contemplating relocating to The Front Range? There are actually many different Boulder communities that comprise Boulder, Colorado. This post will focus on the bigger picture: towns and cities in the area. Lots of people say, “I live in Boulder.” But then it turns out they are actually in one of the small towns around Boulder Colorado. So here goes:
- Niwot Colorado. Great community just north of Boulder. A handful of stop signs and a quaint downtown. Some great dining options for such a small spot. Several communities in Niwot offer gorgeous homes on really big lots. $$$.
- Longmont Colorado. Wonderful town with solid roots in Boulder County. Longmont is a city in its own right with several shopping districts, hospitals, plenty of golf courses and new construction projects all over town. As Boulder communities go, the Southwest portion of Longmont is preferred for a fast commute to Boulder. This area is centered on Airport Road.
- Louisville Colorado. One of the top rated places to live in the USA the last several years. Louisville is just east of Boulder. Read detailed city blog here
- Superior/Rock Creek. Superior is the town, Rock Creek is the predominant subdivision. While most everyone thinks they are one and the same, there is actually a miner’s village that is old town Superior. Major new construction is happening with the Superior Town Center project. Rock Creek is a popular subdivision with great schools, shopping and dining.
- Broomfield. Technically, it is it’s own city and county. Broomfield Colorado is a big place, yet popular option for being near Boulder. People in many different Boulder communities shop and work in Interlocken Business Park and Flatirons Mall. Each is located in Broomfield.
- Lafayette Co, about fifteen minutes east of Boulder. Looking for golf? Check out Indian Peaks. There is a picturesque old town, dining options and even a Walmart. Plus one of the biggest churches in the region (in the former Walmart location). Lots of great open space, lakes and trails.
- Hygiene – small, farm, verdant and wide open.
- Gunbarrel. Don’t laugh. This area is the NE portion of Boulder. It is in the county, but with a “Boulder” address for mailing. The Boulder Country Club is located here and there is a new town center in development.
- One of the newest Boulder communities is Erie. We always enjoy seeing an extra evening of fireworks at the wonderful event on the National course.
