Moving to Colorado for the Boulder lifestyle? This blog is all about Boulder Relocation. It touches on schools, neighborhoods and what season to purchase your new home.
Boulder is a big place

The city of Boulder is a pretty big place when it comes to deciding where to live. There are many different styles of housing and a wide variety of neighborhoods. Every side of town has its own special qualities. Will you live West of Broadway to be close to the Foothills or do you like the vibe in NoBo where development is still shaping the city? Do you crave a big lot like an East side of Boulder or home offers or do you want your children to walk to school K-12? When contemplating Boulder relocation, keep in mind only parts of South Boulder allow a child to walk to school K-12.
Our new home will have…
With a diversity of home options, the inventory of homes for sale in Boulder can seem quirky. So many different vintages to select from. Home buying in Boulder can be more art than science, seeing what a home’s potential can be as opposed to the current condition – so I always suggest a key to successful Boulder relocation is staying open minded to the possibilities.
Summer, Spring, Winter, Fall
AKA timing the market. For the widest selection of homes, keep in mind that historically more homes are listed and sold in the Spring and summer months than say Fall and Winter. There are advantages to consider for each season.

In the winter, just as there are fewer listings, there is also greatly reduced competition. Buying a home in winter can be sort of like walking into a grocery store at 4 am – the shelves are freshly stocked and you have the place to yourself. Imagine houses ready to go and you are sole purchaser.
For other families, the economics of school dictate a move. School starts in late summer, so being settled by early summer means a Spring contract to buy your new house.
Boulder Schools are #1
Boulder Schools are amongst the best in Colorado. Of course, even in Boulder, some schools are greatly preferred over others, so do your research. While Boulder is open enrollment, sometimes the best guarantee of the school you want is being in the right neighborhood.

There are 2 top notch high schools, with Fairview in South Boulder being recognized as one of the premier public high schools in the US. A wide variety of school options including the overly popular and equally tough Summit Charter School awaits your student. Winning the lottery to get into Summit is probably the easiest thing about this tough as nuts charter school.
One advantage for families with children – Southern Hills Middle School and Fairview High School campuses are side by side –meaning fewer car trips across town. Or letting your middle school’er get escorted home by big brother in HS.
