Community Asset: Boulder Chamber of Commerce
As a local business person, I can attest, the strength of the local Chamber of Commerce is an excellent benefit to the Boulder Co real estate community. It is a benefit to prolonged home values increasing as well as the brokers that serve the community. And it all starts with one ridiculously simple, but ingenious idea. Our chamber is not about bringing big companies to town. Rather, the secret ingredient that makes it so successful is retention.

Retention. Keeping amazing businesses in Boulder Colorado is the secret to our Boulder Chamber. And imho this mirrors what makes the Boulder Co real estate market so well rounded. It isn’t that folks are moving in and out of the area in a hurry. No, it is that once here, once you become a part of this beautiful place to call home, you want to stay. Retention.
Empathy and Enchiladas
Perhaps I should say empathy and amazing pasta, because this is what Frasca serves. The restaurant is located along Pearl Street Boulder. Not on the walking mall area, but just down a few blocks. The food is amazing, based upon a very small region of Italy – Friuli-Venezia Giulia. And what sets Frasca apart is an attention to their clients, above all else. I’ve had the amazing opportunity to dine there and highly recommend it. Learn more about this amazing community gem in the video:
Boulder Co Real Estate Community 2015 Recap
We’ve had a beautiful year in Boulder. By all accounts, it seems to be continuing as we transition in 2016. Inventory of existing homes for sale has been on the pesky low side. Though more houses could easily be absorbed, we just haven’t seen that many come up for sale. The earlier part of the year was dominated with multiple offer scenarios and better than full price offers seemed to become the norm for a few months there. Boulder Co real estate has hit new heights in terms of average and median sold prices.
Record Breaking Average Boulder Homes For Sale Prices
In late Spring/early summer, the community briefly experienced average home prices in excess of one million dollars. The overall average for the first ten months of the year has been just over $906,000. This has been a better than ten percent increase over the preceding year’s average home price.
While values have climbed, alas, so have days on market to a successful offer. At the beginning of the year, it felt as though homes were flying off the market. The time to sell has more than doubled from January to October, moving from 37 days to 75. But keep in mind, along with a little longer selling period, we have had increased inventory and thus – increased sales. Where January saw around twenty home sales, October was closer to a hundred.
For Boulder home buyers seeking that opportunity to create home, the increased housing inventory is a blessing. Going into the new year, we’ll want to keep an eye on interest rates. The big news of December – the Federal Reserve increased rates for the first time since the Great Recession. Truly, an indication of how far our economy has come.
