Annual 4th of July Fireworks
Somehow, we always find a way to get to Erie, Colorado for the 4th of July celebration. It is fairly easy, because this event is actually held on July 3rd every year. National Golf Course in Vista Ridge hosts the event which is becoming epic in size. We love the hometown feeling of this massive fireworks extravaganza.

Erie Is Getting Big
You know its getting to be a popular event when you have to park across the street in another subdivision to see the fireworks. I thought the parking was totally out of control last night. We arrived plenty early – we picnic – and still, no parking in sight. I actually drove over to Anthem and found a cul-de-sac near the traffic lights to park and then walk back into Vista Ridge. If you go next year – this is a great tip.
Being a Realtor, I noticed the big lots, the pretty houses and how completely lived in Anthem feels already. I’ll definitely be mentioning this area to more clients in the near future. And Vista Ridge was a wonderful setting for the fireworks. Kids everywhere. My daughter-in-law commented on how many inflatable bouncy-things there were. We saw slides, castles, some sort of giant ball and more.
Music was playing, though it seemed sort of far away to where we were sitting. That is, until this one song came on. The Cha Cha Slide suddenly had people dancing everywhere. This was one of the more magical moments of the evening. People, young and old, were line dancing to this song. We were really far from the center of things and still, there were about four or five groups of people not only dancing, but also singing along. After the song ended there was plenty of applause.

Picnic, Fireworks, Community
We always picnic for this fireworks show. Julie made fantastic Potato Salad and baked chicken. We brought along Colorado cherries (love local Farmers Markets) and some candy from Hammonds in Denver. As dusk arrived, we had some glow sticks to entertain ourselves. Plenty of people watching, a few heart wrenching PA calls for a lost 5 year old in a red t-shirt — he was found! Thank goodness. And then the big show. As always, we thought the fireworks ended too soon, but what a fun show. Hope your 4th of July weekend is off to a great start.
All the best – Bob
PS Don’t call me today. I’m off with the family. We are hoping to hike Caribou Ranch. I’ll be around over the weekend if you need any real estate assistance!!
