I love living and working in Lafayette

In my heart, I’m a Boulder Colorado guy. But the last several years, I’ve been living and working in Lafayette Colorado. And I have to tell you something. I love it.

#1 Best Feature Of Living In Lafayette

The best part of living and working in Lafayette has to be the great trails. During the warmer months, I absolutely tear it up on the Coal Creek Trail. It’s an east-west trail. It’s diverse.

When I cycle to the east, I quickly get out on Colorado prairie. I’ve seen bald eagles up close and personal, plenty of prairie dogs, even the occasional tumble weed has blown by.

Off that direction I also have a ride that takes me out to some of my inlaws. Always fun to call out a “Hello” to my extended family. Like me, they back to open space.

Or, I’ll ride west. About ten minutes from home the trail climbs a stout short hill. Get the heart rate up. Then along a plateau with stunning views. Down a hill and back to riding off and on along the creek.

Another favorite ride is a loop I’ve created. Almost entirely on trails. It takes me over to Waneka Lake which is another awesome highlight of living and working in Lafayette.

Have you been to Wankeka? There is a loop around a nice lake. It never feels crowded. Parents love the playground – I usually, whatever the hour – see families at that playground. There is also a disc golf course.

Shopping and Dining Options In Lafayette Better Than Ever

Our neighborhood has this great Facebook community. Over the summer (this was pre-pandemic, 2019) there were these lunches out. I went on one of these to Teocalli and discovered some really delicious little street tacos.

Then the other day, during the pandemic, we went to Tangerine for a bubble breakfast. We dined outdoors in these cool little igloos. It was great. First meal out in ages. And, we lived to talk about it.

There is also the amazing Mercado and the Taco truck.

Everything Is So Close By

You’ve got the quaint downtown, big ole Walmart, plenty of grocery options – all close by.

And it’s an easy drive straight up 287 to Longmont or south to Broomfield and Hwy 36. 470 is accessible, so when its safe to travel, DIA is just 30 minutes door to door. And Boulder, where my official office is located is just 15 minutes down the road.

All in all, for not being Boulder, Lafayette is an easy place to love living and working in.

Houses Are More Affordable

And then there is the real estate side of things. Housing is more affordable out here compared to say Boulder. You are still in BVSD, so your kids are going to get an excellent education and/or your property values will climb.

My most recent listing on Brome Place was on and off the market. That’s telling. I think the secret is out that living and working in Lafayette CO is a great way to live along the Front Range.
